One Book, One Town
One Book, One Town: Sharon Reads Together is a community reading program with the goal of building community through a shared reading experience. Each year since 2007, the all-volunteer One Book One Town (OBOT) committee has chosen one book with broad appeal for men and women of all ages. The committee then develops discussions and enrichment programs inspired by the themes within that book. Programming typically runs for approximately 4 weeks each spring. The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali is OBOT’s 2021 selection. Set against the political upheaval of Iran in the 1950’s, the novel immerses the reader in the culture of that country through the blossoming love affair of two teenagers. Beautifully written, it evokes the power of love to transcend decades and continents and explores love’s power to transcend time and distance.
