Why This Event Matters

Celebrating Freedom, Resilience, & Community:

Juneteenth embodies the ongoing journey toward full freedom and equality. By centering this celebration in partnership with METCO, DEIC, and the Sharon Racial Equity Alliance, we highlight the strength and perseverance of Black communities and the essential role every resident plays in building a more just society.

Educational Bridge Between Communities:

The student-led cultural tour of Boston offers an immersive study of histories, cultures, and voices that have shaped our region. This hands-on learning fosters curiosity, empathy, and informed dialogue among Sharon students and Boston community members alike.

Strengthening Collaboration:

Our joint effort demonstrates what is possible when neighboring communities unite around shared values—education, equity, and opportunity for all. This partnership lays a foundation for ongoing programs, mentorship, and mutual aid beyond a single event.

Access, Inclusion, and Belonging:

Providing transportation reinforces our commitment to inclusive participation. We invite every family, student, and resident to feel welcome and empowered to contribute to and benefit from the celebration.

Community Unity and Celebration: The day is designed to bring people together across generations to honor the past and envision a future where Freedom is lived through everyday actions—supporting one another, advocating for justice, and building a vibrant, diverse community.

We look forward to welcoming you to a day of meaningful remembrance, joyful celebration, and shared purpose. Please help spread the word to friends and neighbors, and join us in honoring the past while building a more equitable future for Sharon and Boston alike.
