It’s early\, but it’s exciting to see all the participants getting ready for the race! Shift 2: At 7:00 am we will be utilized along the bike route to help guide the bikers as they manage the course. \nPlease consider staying for both but it’s perfectly alright if you can only help with one area. Thank you! \nFor more information\, please contact: Karen Sprung (karensprung@gmail.com)

SUMMARY:Sharon LGBTQ + Pride Festival
DESCRIPTION:Happy Pride! While we celebrate Pride with all its usual rainbow flair\, we also continue to stand against racially motivated violence and anti-Black\, anti-Semitic\, and anti-Asian injustice. We hope cars will show solidarity with Black Lives Matter\, Stop Asian Hate\, faith groups\, and LGBTQ+ youth of color. Please especially show support for our transgender/non binary kids and adults targeted by hateful and damaging executive orders and continued anti-LGBTQ state legislation. The Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Youth related the situation: “This current wave of anti-LGBTQ legislative activity in states across the nation is unprecedented. But the proliferation of bills targeting transgender youth is particularly intense and rapidly accelerating: 79 anti-transgender bills were filed in 2020\, doubling in 2021 to 147 anti-transgender proposals\, and doubling again to roughly 280 anti-transgender bills active in state legislatures this year.” (source)Sharon Pride is on June 1\, 2025. The 2025 Sharon Pride Festival is organized by the Sharon Pride Steering Committee and sponsored by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, the Sharon Cultural Council\, the Sharon Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Committee\, the Sharon Recreation Advisory Committee\, and the Boston Pride Community Fund.

SUMMARY:Many Families – Many Stories
DESCRIPTION:An exhibit and events that celebrate the diverse traditions and stories of family life in Sharon\nWill be on display May 3rd -23rd at The Sharon Historical Society\,16 High St. Sharon. \nThis special program in honor of International Family Day is made possible in part by a grant from The Sharon Cultural Council. \nThe Sharon Historical Society is looking forward to celebrating the diversity of families in Sharon\, including yours! It’s our way of recording the present to preserve it for the future. \nHow? We are asking families to select either an artifact that represents a family tradition to be on loan as part of this exhibit\, or a photograph of an object or event that tells a key family story. Along with the object or photograph\, we’d like you to share a short paragraph explaining why you chose this item. You might think of: An article of clothing\, A musical instrument\, A photo of a special place\, A favorite book\, A traditional food\, A family gathering\, A holiday decoration\, A tool\, or artwork. \nWhen you visit the museum\, you’ll also be invited to record an oral account of what it represents in your family’s life.\nReal objects speak volumes\, but if your artifact is very precious\, or perishable (like a plate of food)\, just a photograph makes more sense.\nWhat you select is up to you\, but if submitting a photograph\, please size it to be an 8×10”. We can also arrange for a Historical Society volunteer to photograph your object. \nThe exhibit will open on Saturday\, May 3rd from 1 to 4. On Sunday May 4 there will be a reception with shared stories and food. The display can be viewed through May 23rd during our Friday\, Saturday and Sunday open hours or by special appointment for groups\, with some family-friendly activities offered.
